Notice of Proposals
THE CHERWELL DISTRICT COUNCIL (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES)
(CHERWELL DRIVE CAR PARK, BANBURY) ORDER 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Cherwell District Council proposes, following consultation with the Police and the Traffic Commissioners and with the consent of the Oxfordshire County Council, to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all Guideline Orders and Regulations made under the Traffic Management Act 2004, and all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order is to:
- Revoke the Cherwell District Council (Off-Street Parking Places) (Compton Road, Banbury) (Coach Park) Order 2000;
- Change the area designated as the Compton Road, Banbury coach park to the Cherwell Drive car park, Banbury by the addition of this car park to Schedule 2 of the Cherwell District Council (Off-Street Parking Places) (Banbury, Bicester and Kidlington) (No.2) Order 2011 and the annexation to that Order of Plan No. 2/1;
- Amend the Cherwell District Council (Banbury Bus Station) Order 1999 to provide parking bays within the Bus Station for public service vehicles not in service to wait for a maximum of 2 hours; and
- Amend the Cherwell District Council (Off-Street Parking Places) (Horse Fair (East) Coach Park, Banbury) Order 2000 to increase the maximum period for which a public service vehicle may wait from 15 minutes to 2 hours;
in order to replace long stay car parking capacity in Banbury lost through the Castle Quay development by designating the Cherwell Drive car park (currently known as the Compton Road coach park, Banbury) as a long stay parking place for cars, while making alternative arrangements for waiting of public service vehicles at the Bus Station and Horse Fair (East) Coach Park, Banbury. The Order contains the full details of the changes.
